Hi everyone! I'm trying to connect to an ftpsite on Internet Explorer and keep getting an error: Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage More Information:

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

•Internet connectivity has been lost.
•The website is temporarily unavailable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
•The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
•There might be a typing error in the address.
•If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

My OS is Windows 7 pro, I have connected to this same site before many times with no issues on IE and Windows Explorer but now neither one of them works. Might be something to do with the fact I had to perform a reinstall of Windows recently on this computer but I'm no expert on this. Anyone with specific knowledge on ftp connection errors and fixes any advice would be much appreciated!

Press Win-R, type "cmd" <enter> without quotes, then type "ping server" <enter> where server is the website your trying to connect to. What does the output look like?

Oh I forgot to say this is not my ftp address but a collegues that we use to transfer files. I have the user name host no/address and password for our collorabation

Network diagnostics: Your computer seems to be correctly configured but the device or resource (xxxxxxxxxxx) is not responding.

try "ping google.ca".

Does it respond?

If so, then the ftp site is probably firewalled, or you have the wrong IP address.

Is the ftp set up on a private netwrok? If so, are you using the external IP of the network? And is port forwarding enabled?
