Hello all

I'm working on a project for next year, and I've decided to be a little ambitious. One of the features I would like to have is the ability for my project to analyse an area of the earth (from Google Earth or a good atlas) and determine the nature of the vegetation in the area. However I've never done any image processing, so I would appreciate it if somebody could point me in the right direction.

I would specifically like to know any of the following:

1) What features would I be looking for?
2) What extraction algorithms do you suggest?
3) How would I disambiguate between vegetation that appears similar?

Thank in advance,
M

1- Image has many types of features and the most and easiest to search for is
Color Intensity or Distribution (RGB Histogram)
But if you search for more details you have to use Texture features and Shape Extraction.
