Loading Visual Basics C++

When I load Visual Basics, which has VB, C++ and so on, I have problems with the internet. Errors come up on web sites and not allow me to use there sites, ie... ebay. I need to know what the heck I can do to stop the errors so I can use the internet and Visual Basics. I had to uninstall the program and take the program back to school. But, if I have some idea on how to operate the program with my computer I will get it back and let ya'll know what the exact errors are. I am using Windows XP I do have the Service Pack 2 and I dont want to uninstall it.
