I can't find the C/C++ drop down menu. I know it's basic, but how do you change it? Was there some kind of update?

Go to linker and then iput (?) I think. I haven't used visual studio for a while. I think it is the second one to add external libraries, if thats what you want to do.

I need to set the Runtime Library settings to Multi-threaded Debug DLL (/MDd)

That option is no longer available (in vc++ 2010) because all programs now use the multi-threaded library. See this thread
