Is there anyway to add wav file or any other music file in C programming?

I just started learning C programming 1 month ago. I am using visual C++ 6.0.
currently i am learning the console application.
Is there anyway i can add a wav file attach so it can play when it runs?
i tried the threads in this forum but it only seem to work for dev C++ or other sort of programming. So can anyone help me out here? Thank you!!!:confused:
