Beacause:
There are more examples and tutorials in c# than vb
c# has better syntax. For example vb uses the assignment operator for comparisons which is a bad thing, and it's too wordy (End If, End Sub) which makes code less readable.
The CLR doesn't care which you use, but really from a developers point of view c# is better.
