OGRE is a sexy little beastie. We're using it in the development of our MMORPG engine. It's got tons of features, and there are SDK's available to integrate it directly with Newton Game Dynamics and ODE.
The links s.o.s. provided are a fantastic starting point. Make sure you go through all the tutorials on the wiki from start to finish. They'll give you a really solid foundation.
