Arrays???

Ok please excuse my idiocy but,

If I want to create an array of random sayings of mine, and then everyday call a new one randomly to be placed on my desktop how would I go about it?

I don't believe you can do that without getting into system commands that change your background or running an applet all the time on your desktop. You might be able to make an applet on a webpage and use that webpage as an active desktop. although I'm a linux user so I'm really not too sure.
