Drag and Drop class ..help

I'm trying to programm a game where the user can drag and drop images...
I have some programms that do this by calling the repaint function for every mouse motion...I have also come across programms that use the java.awt.dnd class..I'm confused here..I don't know what will be the best...how does the dnd class work....my little programm that repaints seem to work fine but i feel like the dnd class could help better..what priviledges does the dnd class have?..and is there any tutorial that could help me understand it better?
