Question on building video chat and chat applications in java.

Ok so im thinking of building a chat application like msn in java. Would JMF be the best option or has anyone got any other ideas. Also are there any tutorials or open source code at there that someone could point me to?
No one has posted to this discussion for at least three months. Please let old threads die and do not reply to them unless you feel you have something new and valuable to contribute that absolutely must be added to make the discussion complete.
