making a web crawler

hi,
i m making a web crawler in java with oracle9i as back end.for this i need to store the web pages crawled by the crawler as compressed pages in the database.similarly the pages need to be uncompressed for viewing at a later time.but i hv no idea how to achieve this? can anybody help? thanks in advance.
