how to convert images to binary to store in database

Coulde anyone post a code on how to convert images to binary? I need to store the data in my database using an http connection. also how do i retrieve the image from the database?
No one has posted to this discussion for at least three months. Please let old threads die and do not reply to them unless you feel you have something new and valuable to contribute that absolutely must be added to make the discussion complete.
