Goal sensor with python help....

Hi all,
I have just modified a mouse so that the left mouse button gets activated when a puck hits the net in ice hockey...
Now all I need is for python to react to the hit by sending an output of voltage for a period of time and adding the hit to a list.
I've sorted out the database and circuits, now all I need is some help with the following:
Having the LMB click registered
Having output voltage for (eg) 3 seconds
What module would be the best for this, I was thinking of pyparalell but my laptop doesnt have the port...
Any help is greatly apreciated,
Python01
