form not responding

Hello,
I'm new in vb.net but befor a couple of days i've created a vb.net windows form application , my application works well it adds certain number of lines to access database and searches this database, my problem is when i minimize my application windows while doing some work it keeps not responding until it finishes it work , i tried me.refresh() but didnt work , is there's anyway to solve this , thanks in advance.

Try application.doevents.. Or Try to use threading or background worker..

There are many resouce out there for threading/background workers.
