syntax error that I just can't seem to find!

Expand Post »
I'm a beginner in my computer programming class, we're about halfway through the course. I had this assignment where I had to make a table that involves INPUT, READ-DATA, PRINT USING, etc. On my first READ statement I keep getting a syntax error message and I can't seem to find out why. I know it's something stupid and easy, but I just seem to keep overlooking it :evil: I would really appreciate it if someone would help me! Here's my program. Thanks all! P.S. I know there's supposed to be things in the quotations after print using, I just didn't feel like typing it in. Yes, I'm lazy. :o

READ p$,ci$,bwi$,dk$,rc$,gt$
READ p,ci.bwi,dk,rc,gt
READ sup$,cost$,qua$,total$
tc1=p*q1
tc2=c1*q2
tc3=c1*q3
tc4=c1*q4
tc5=c1*q5
gt=tc1+tc2+tc3+tc4+tc5
'
INPUT q1
PRINT "How many items of paper (##)";q1
INPUT q2
PRINT "How many items of color ink (##)";q2
INPUT q3
PRINT "How many items of black and white in (##)";q3
INPUT q4
PRINT "How many diskettes (##)";q4
INPUT q5
PRINT "How many recordable CDs (##);q5
'
PRINT TAB(40); "FVS Computer Supplies"
PRINT USING " "; sup$;cost$;qua$;total$
PRINT USING " "; p$;p;q1;tc1
PRINT USING " "; ci$;ci;q2;tc2
PRINT USING " "; bwi$;bwi;q3;tc3
PRINT USING " "; dk$;dk;q4;tc4
PRINT USING " "; rc$;rc;q5;tc5
PRINT USING " "; gt$;gt
'
DATA Paper, Color Ink, B&W Ink, Diskettes, Recordable CDs, Grand Total
DATA 25.00,23.95,19.90,.59,4.95
DATA Supplies, Cost/Item, Quantity, Total Cost of Item
END

Re: syntax error that I just can't seem to find!

You need quotes around the strings in the DATA statement.
