VB6: Road map implementation

Expand Post »
Hi!

Before we get started, take a look on the picture below:

http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/5440/mapms1.gif

If you use your imagination, you could see there a road map with two points: the "start point" and the "goal point". The truck must start in the "start point", follow the "road nº2", then the "road nº1", then the "highway" to get the "goal point".
Well, I'll load the image into a picturebox in vb6 and load it into memory to work with the pixels values.

I need a clue. I am not talking about code. I need to know if you have any ideas how to program the move of the truck across the roads to get the goal point.

I was thinking on paint the different elements in the maps using very different colors to catch the contrast variation to determine what is a road and what is not.

Oops, Almost forget, the maps will be different according to where the user is using the software.

What do you think about that?
Any other idea?

Thanks.
