seagate network hard drive that only has LAN interface to the router but not usb to connnect to other computers. How can I set up read only permissions for a particular PC in my LAN? By default, all computers in the LAN have read and write access. Any idea is welcome. Thanks

Hi It seems like you need to have a network neighborhood, so i advice you to have a schema of modem -> router -> switch (dunno why you have two modems, unless u need redundant conections, if so you will need extra hardware and do real routing) and the connect the WD drive directly to the router ETH so in this way all computers have access to…

Some may run, if they are independent files. but for most programs, they are not independent. MP3s etc. would be fine, but lets say you have microsoft office on…

you can save your data, by making a back up, put your HDD to other PC then copy all your data their,, transfer to external HDD... then format your pc... hope it works..

for permissions, right click the drive icon and then choose 'security' tab. there are many different settings and buttons, don't be afraid to read & click. just remember: deny overrides allow, so if you lock yourself out, you might need to take ownership from the 'advanced security settings' button if there is no 'security' tab, click '…

I already tried to deny permissions but the system does not let me change permissions on the drive icon or in any of its folders. Thanks anyways
