(Mac OS X 10.4.8 Mac mini 2GB) In as small a nutshell as I can, truly, including all thought to may be related, don't know. System was up LONG time, so unsure which might have done what upon powerup:
1. Downloaded Firefox 2.0. Somewhere in the longtime on, ran SysOptimizer X4.6, "Maintenance" 3rd party app, multiple Disk Utilities Verify/Repair permissions & Disk. Repaired keychain that did have error. Then later, Bookmarks, gone, actually moved or still in data elsewhere. ITunes, Docs, same. NOT Desktop w/ many of *my* icons, NOT macMail. Some preferences changed, like applemouse right click to (default?) Primary button. Like a new...Account? Oh, and have had iSync and iDisk at top of do lists, yet not done. No need, I just whacked the crap out of the side of my head for ya.
2. Had Sophos return a "File Not Scanned (appears to be a 'zip bomb'). HD:Sys:Lib:PrvtFrameworks:MediaKit.framework:Versions:A:Resources:MKDrivers:bundle:Contents:Resources:bootroot.loader
Maybe just *appears* to be? Can't find much online, 'cept may be legal. Unless I have a hidden boot?
3. ClamXav returned: Known viruses: 74435 (this for Macs gen'l?!?) 1 or more infected yada yada Big Bang Board Games/ Mancala2.3.4.zip:Oversized.Zip FOUND. No action. Me: Again, nothing? "Looks" bad to AV? See LOTS on YES/NO to macviruses & the like...I do go everywhere online doing investigative journalism stuff.
4. BIGGEST? In a moment of nonsanity (I do have a doctor's note, see profile), somehow clicked my shortname account into a cloud *poof.* Drug it back from...users? Damn, forget-- sorry, 2 days ago, have been looking *everywhere* online. First time I moved it clipped "Apps" just below, and it went in THERE (cry of despair here.) But somehow also now back on main window list...thingy. My short name account appears OK in Preferences/accounts, but when I renamed the in-apps shortname to "_new (my name)" per a "8000 poster" guy, now when I go to Save things, THAT's the one the comes up, all empty like. BUT, both of their contents appear identical, including MY new stuff in there, not like new account. Then, my left brain gets in a fight w/ my right, and we all lose.
Have looked at Mozilla's "lost bookmarks" FAQ's, but seems like obviously more than that.
Don't know which logs are pertinent. "Menucracker" kinda hiding OK? LOT of errors all over, of course.
Finally (I know,) threads like this make me wonder:idea: --dangerous for an IT SALES (i.e. TechLite) kinda guy:

SINCEREST apologies if too long, it seemed like if I threw it all out there, it would save you Incredibly Wonderful & Compassionate People Who Want to Make the World a Better Place (again, too much?) lot of guessing, maybe 1 piece of puzzle makes difference. Plus, *great* difficulty in Brevity.
