C#.NET is a programming language that is mainly used with the .NET framework it was built for the framework. VB.NET is a language used to develop .NET applications with the traditional VB style. VS.NET Enterpise architect is mainly for a person that is doing software architecture. It has a number of features that the others don't that is why it is the most expensive.

VS.NET pro and Ebterprise Developer are mainly for the general applications developers. Pro is based for the average program developer. Whereas Enterprise Developer is geard toward Enterprise level development.

If you are doing general programming I would suggest VS.NET Professional. C#, VB.NET are basically modules that are loaded into VS so and you get those in VS.NET pro and up.

In our field if you are not in touch with the technology for one year then you are lost.
