I want to show progress while fetching the records from the database...How to show progress..There is no progress bar in ASP.net?????????

That depends. If you're doing a GET request then your progress bar is the loading bar on the browser

If this is an AJAX request for retrieving data you can use a loading panel. Its not a "progress bar" but it lets them know something is churning:
