Help needed for client side sorting of data

Hi
I need to sort and filter a grid on the client side...
While searching the net I came across a site
http://rdcpro.com/xmldev/filterandsort/demo.html
While looking at the site I noticed that it is saving the xml
and xsl files(or so it seems) in the client cache files and then formatting the xml according to the user requirement...
Could somebody explain to me how this could be managed.
