How the integrate a forum best with yours site?

Expand Post »
Ok right now i am working on a site that also has members and stuff which means im going to need some way of login the people in. Now i dont have a problem with that but then i want to have a forum on my site and since i dontwant to goto the trouble of making one myself i though i might just use one of the ones that exist already.

So I though i would look into the login system of one of the existing forums and try to shape my site according to that one so that they dont have to register/login twice. like once for the site and once for the forums.

My question is which forum would be the one i can use that i would work best with? It would have to be something is free obviously. The forum dosent really have to have any extravagant functions or anything just something simple.

Is phpBB2 a good choice?

Or if i wanted something simple would it be easier to have something of my own?

I am very new to php and mysql but i would still say i can do some goos stuff with it.

Thanks for any replies.
