MS SQL 2005 Developer Help

Hello
I am new in this. Just installed MS SQL 2005 on my notebook for learning purpose. I found that though using the default instance, it keeps giving me a logon screen which I am having problems loging in with
Server Name: JMZCONS-PC
Error Number: 18456
Severity: 14
State: 1
Line Number: 65536
no matter what I tried.
I just wanted to start up a new database on my C: Drive .
Please help

Do you have the latest services packs and did you apply this hotfix if so?

Fix issue using HotFix, and SQL 2005 updates SP1 and SP2
