I get error while connecting to server .i have sql server 2008 r2.
can not connect to local
A network related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to sql server. the server was not found or was not assible.
verify that the instance name is correct and that sql server is configured to allow remote connection.
(provider:maned pipes provider,error;40- could not open a connection to sql server)(microsoft sql server,error:2)

I checked the configuration. i have attached the screenshot of it.
i tried to start SQL server(MSSQLServer).but gives error:
the request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion.
consult the event log or other applicable error logs for details.

what can be a problem? please help.
i am using windows 7.

Look at the Event viewer (should find it under Administrative Tools in Control Panel). There should be more details under the Application section, or possibly under the System section. Look for the events that have to do with MSSQLSERVER and follow the instructions.

click on "MicrosoftSQL-2008->ConfigurationTools->SQL server surface Area configuration" . configure this sql server surface area for network access. Then restart your computer
