start options in mysql

hello hi
i am using mac osx 10.5
i want to start mysql in it with --log-bin option so as to take incremental backup.so how can i start mysql with that option.
i start mysql as mysql -u root -p.
plz help me.
where can i find my binlogs

Try this way
put this line in my.cnf file and bin logging will be enabled

MySQL Syntax (Toggle Plain Text)
  1. log-BIN=/home/Bin_Log

Quote ...
i start mysql as mysql -u root -p.
This command is not to start Mysql but to connect to Mysql

if you Mysql installed as service try
service mysql start or go init.d

"/home/Bin_log" ,change the location to your like
