MySQL a start point for future DBA role

Expand Post »
Hi,
I am trying to get my head around the whole database theme by learning MySQL on my own with the help of a couple of easy to use books and some online forums including this one. Is this is the right choice in terms of learning the database related themes if someone is supposed to try for a professional Oracle or SQL DBA positions in the future? Is MySQL capable of teaching you the very basics of what is required in the database field as a whole? Thanks
