how do i make a simple scrollbar with javascript and css

does anyone know of any tutorials? i don want to use jquery. just javascript. i googled and found nothing but i know its possible. does anyone know? just a simple one. for like divs

i had jquery jscroll and i dont like it as much as i thot i might so i want to make my own scrollbar. anyway i should go about doing it without the css overflow property letting the browser own the scrollbar and the way it looks i want to customize and not just in ie
