how do i limit this textfield to three words?

JavaScript / DHTML / AJAX Syntax (Toggle Plain Text)
<input type='text' size='40' name='search' style='font-size:16px; font-family:Arial;font-weight:bold;' />
<input type='text' size='40' name='search' style='font-size:16px; font-family:Arial;font-weight:bold;' />

i only want three words to be allowed entered.
