How to connect login page with the database

As i am new to jsp, i need a solution for to connect login page with the database which is having username and password.

There is an opportunity to get new comer to learn something on his own will instead of letting the person just copy solution. I thing we need to change attitude of posters from coming and getting code to committing to learn about the thing they came here in first place and maybe going the extra mile of learning something else on top of it.
