Can i load my page before displaying it ??

Hi
I have quite a lot of images on my webpages and need to know if there is anyway in which i can load everything in (maybe with a loading bar %) and then display everything, at the moments it is loading different things in as the browser reads the html, it looks quite freaky

any help would be greatly appreciated

do a search in google on 'preload page' or post in javascript
