Succesfully Installing PHP

Hello PHP coders from Knysna South Africa!

I've come here looking for answers fellow programmers.
Like how to correctly install PHP and Apache on Windows XP as a development environment. I want to play with things like the gd library and pdf lib etc... the fun, interactive stuff that makes this language interesting to me. Somehow I cant get it right.
This stuff doesnt work on my virtual server.... :-|

May I ask why you want to run Apache on a Windows server? Why not on a test Linux box, or even in a dual boot environment? You probably could find more information in our Web Hosting forum ( http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/forum33.html ) or Apache subforum ( http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/forum90.html ).

Also, a quick google search turned up the following:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/windows.html
http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/apache-windows.html
http://www.ricocheting.com/server/apache.html
