best tool for synchronise localhost with shared hosting

Hi,

I wonder which is best tool for synhronise localhost project with the same project
on shared hosting. For example, when I run that tool, my localhost project should get all files that doesn't contain from shared hosting (newest added images for news, organizations etc).
I need something like SVN, but that should work with shared hosting.

What would you recommend? Or maybe does shared hosting has some option like this?
I'm new in this...

For files I use Beyond Compare, for database Navicat.

Navicat is not free, can you recommend some free tool for databases?

MySql has it's own Workbench, but don't know its feature set.
Toad was free, but don't know if it still is.

Ok, thanks again. Toad is still free, so I would probably use that.
