Hi, Ruby is similar in purpose to Perl and PHP, that it is a Scripting Language.

My best advice is to search Google or Wikipedia or beginners' guides to scripting languages.

Well, first of all, Ruby is a "very" high level programming language. It originated in Japan! The language is interpretated, not compiled!

It's an object oriented programming language, and it's scope is dynamic!
