Clicking on a link to a music file

Hello all, new here

I have been researching how to play music files on a web page. I have discovered the Embeded Windows Media Player tool. When you use this tool the Windows Media Player pops up where it can be used to play the music file that you have it linked to.

What I would like to know is how might I have a link that one could click on and the music would start playing without the Media Player popping up?

So if you clicked on Dan's Hit Tune it would start playing with no Windows Media tool bar popping up.

Thanks! :)
Dan

If the audo file is purely a link, it is not up to you to control this behaviour. If you want to use some player of your choice, you will need to embed a player in a web page (not just a link to a file).

File associations are controlled by the client browser. E.g. firefox has a applications section, which associated extensions with plugins (mine has .mp3 -> quicktime) so quicktime will try and play the audio.

does that makes sense?
