I was advised not to use any properties inside <tr> tags because it can create problems in some browsers. Is that really so?

one way to find out..is to create a page and use that <tr> tags..and test your page in different browsers..check for any difference.. :O) maybe experts around here can give you a better explanation

We find that there are <onEvent> properties that may fail in <tr> between browsers, we put the <onEvent> handlers in the <td> instead,
visual styling seems to work with every thing
