Featured forum threads on DaniWeb hompage

Does anyone know how the "featured forum threads" on the daniweb hompage was done, its a great idea and looks good too.

I wondering if its a VB hack?

I'm very sorry for the late reply. It is actually a custom-written portal that I wrote to be integrated with vBulletin.
