i've just stumbled across a great way to proof read english text. i convert my text to pdf and use the acrobat reader's text to speech thing (view menu, read out loud). i otten make simple mistakes that MS word spell and grammar checker doesn't pick up, like a missing "I" or swaping "of" for "or". when acrobat reads it back it's much easier to spot mistakes like that than reading it yourself, well it is for me anyhow.

Whatever works for you... some people can proof read very quickly!

It is always a good idea to run your document by someone else to proof. While something might sound good to you, it might not be phrased the best way for your audience.
