Messy code

Expand Post »
If I give you the code to my website, is there any chance
you would be kind & take a look at it - to tell me where
the conflict is - and how to improve/resolve it? ^.^

Hi Jessica,

I don't see why not.
Thank you for your time ^.^It's really appreciated.
Just want to give you a heads up, I'll be honest,
I can not write code of any sort, I just know the basics.
I am still currently learning (obviously, you can tell)

Below I have given you the code to my website (www.allgreenedup.net) This website is 'optimized' for IE7.
My Objective over this weekend is to make my website
work in other browsers such as Firefox, Safari, ect.
This website was designed in Frontpage 2003.
So automatically, you should know that the code is
a complete flippin' mess! I need my code cleaned up in my website,
and I need the site to work in different browsers, that's it.

Can you help? I sure hope so!

:/ I almost feel embarrassed just showing other designers
the code at this point, but I have gotta figure this out!
And what the heck are those 'smiley faces' doing in the code?

Re: Messy code

I hate to be blunt but that is horrible and it's hardly even your fault. I strongly suggest ditching Frontpage and learning HTML, http://www.w3.org/html/ is a good place to start with tutorials.

I cannot express enough how much this would help your cross-browser compatibility and of course knowing exactly what is in your code because you put it there makes for a priceless troubleshooting tool.

Your design really isn't that difficult and even the most basic HTML knowledge would have what you currently have up and running in very short time.

Re: Messy code

Don't even bother fixing the code. You do have a pretty simple design, just a bunch of images, links and that JS image switch. Learn HTML and CSS and you'll be done in no time. You can use tutorials at
http://w3schools.com
or
http://webmonkey.com

Re: Messy code

First of all, hiding scripts and styles in comment tags is deprecated. It doesn't work anymore. Remove the <!-- and --> . They now keep your browser from using the scripts and styles.

Scripts should be in external files, not inline in the code.
