I've gotten a couple of reports lately that DaniWeb is crashing web browsers, but I can't duplicate this and don't know which browsers are involved. Can anyone confirm?

crashing is reported for me also ,reactivated to start the browser to start problem is solved

Does it continuously happen or it only happened once?

Member Avatar for LastMitch

Hi Dani,

It's mainly Firefox. It happens more than once. Safari & IE if you read the forum as a non member it closes maybe once. I post it on the other thread. But that was ads but this is is a good thread! I always used Firefox and yes it

Does it continuously happen

meaning if I go to your website and sign in or read a post it closes. I hope that will help. I can tell you I don't feel like retyping a post again and the browser closes and I have to try to remember what I wrote before.

Thanks.

I just get randomly 45degree parallel lines opaquing the screen, on mouseover of blank areas, that sometimes fades immediately, sometimes persists 20s

Almostbob: Are you using an ad blocker?

Also ... it only happens when you're not logged in?

Member Avatar for LastMitch

Hi

I am using window 7. It's both. If you are on the site not logged in it's closes and if you are login it's closes too.

It closes the first time you load the site and then it works after that? How often does it happen? Is it random? Please help me debug this since I am not able to duplicate it on my end.

Are you using an ad blocker? What pages does it happen on?

Hi Dani,

It closes the first time you load the site and then it works after that?

Yes

Then a couple of times it does it consecutive meaning closing rowser.

Are you using an ad blocker?

No

What pages does it happen on?

It usually happend when I read a post on the forum (for me it's the "PHP" section) or try to post something on the forum.

I feel that it does have something to do with the new

Fade effect when hovering over ads

There something in the code that you wrote is interfering with the broswer. Before you install that it was working fine. It's after you installed it happend.

Right now it's fine, but when it happend again, I will post that error from Mozilia.

Right now it's fine, but when it happend again, I will post that error from Mozilia.

Please, please please post the Mozilla error the next time it happens! That would be GREAT. Thanks so much.

logged in, using the winhelp hosts file, probably blocking the ad-server, couldnt post for a while, my end was down

The page fades out with the grey diagonal lines if you hover over an ad. Perhaps you were hoving over where an ad should be for 20s?

Cheers,

Dani

I think this issue been gonna a week now. I hope this will help you resolve the issue.

but I can't duplicate this and don't know which browsers are involved.

I hope that you didn't force the issue so you can see the why the browser crash because it's always impossible to do that.

I really would appreciate it if you let me know what was the problem because I'm a bit curious. Thanks.

I hope that will help.

Can you answer those four questions? :)

Member Avatar for LastMitch

Did you report the crash to firefox?

I think I did.

When did this crash happen?

Just a few minutes ago.

How often is it crashing?

It happened twice just now

Do you have ads disabled in your profile? Does it still crash with ads disabled?

I wasn't log in to my account, I usually bookmark a page that I'm reading on DaniWeb, so I was reading as a non-member. I always bookmark the page that I was reading so I can referred it back.

Member Avatar for LastMitch

I hope that will answer your question

Thanks! Please let me know if it ever crashes with ads disabled. I want to see if it is a problem with DaniWeb's javascript or with the ads.

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this error at all. Firefox has never crashed for me.

Is only DaniWeb crashing or are you having this problem with other websites also?

Member Avatar for LastMitch

Hi Dani

Thanks! Please let me know if it ever crashes with ads disabled.

On my profile, I didn't check the box "Disable Ads?"

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this error at all. Firefox has never crashed for me.

Honestly, I perfer not to reproduce this error.

Is only DaniWeb crashing or are you having this problem with other websites also?

Just your website : Daniweb

FYI: I crashed again this time when I was about to log in to my account.

Do you need that report too?

Anything would help. Yes, please. If you can check the box "Disable Ads?" and then browse the site a little bit, and let me know if it still crashes, that would be great. Thanks!

Member Avatar for LastMitch

Hi Dani,

If you can check the box "Disable Ads?"

I just check the box to "Disable Ads?

browse the site a little bit, and let me know if it still crashes, that would be great. Thanks!

you want me to broswer the site? OK

The report looks the same as the one I posted above

Yes, please ... if you browse around the site for a long time and it doesn't crash, we know what the problem is!

Member Avatar for LastMitch

Hi Dani,

I have a little question (this is before I check that box but now it's check)

In my profile has the box

"Disable Ads?

and I didn't check that box.

Then why it still crashes if I wasn't log in my account?

I want to see if it is a problem with DaniWeb's javascript or with the ads.

That will be a interesting question.
