Today I just happened to be trying to hotlink an image from ImageShack using the [img] tags, and I had the constant problem of the tags being parsed into the hyperlinks. And then when I looked around for the "insert image" button in the Advanced Reply, I could no longer locate it.

Why has this been disabled? I'm aware of the annoyance of having a dead hotlink, however I liked to hotlink my images from ImageShack instead of using attachments because I can place the images anywhere in my post, which is helpful when someone else is reading my post. Secondly, it's fullsize, so I can scale the image as large as possible without going out of the content boundaries, and then it saves the reader an extra click.

I understand that Dani is trying to make the posts self-contained, but the least that you could do is allow us to reposition the placement of the images that we attach to our posts.

Thanks.

I noticed that also and all i can think is,its a mistake....

She must have been modding something and accidently disabled [img] on member accounts....

No, I don't think so. It's been this while for nearly a week I think (not completely sure when it was changed), and nothing's changed.

A lot of forums I've visited have disabled the feature for the reasons aforementioned.

Hi,

IMG tags within posts were disabled because the number of broken images were getting way out of control. Instead, please use attached images. You can also use [attachment]image attachment ID #[/attachment] to position attachments inline within your posts, so no functionality is lost.

OK, well then that sounds like it may have fixed my problem. Let me try it out...

[attachment]3016[/attachment]

Let's see if that works...

[edit] Sweet, thanks Dani!

One more request: could you implement an attachment-like feature on the blogs too, as there is now currently no way of displaying images directly in a blog entry?

Yes, I would vote for the blog image capability as well (despite the fact that it will mean more work keeping an eye on the porn/spam bloggers - but I do that anyway.)
