That might create more problems than it would solve. There are some places on DaniWeb where posting links to one's own site and advertising is permitted.

Correct, but in all other forums , it can be disallowed if it is possible to implement.

I don't believe that disallowing new users from being able to post links would solve any of the current major newbie problems we experience such as failure to read the rules or not using code tags.
