They have not happened yet, and the date has nothing to do with the olympics. Its nearly the same date every 4 years. The democrat convention begins Aug 25. The republican convention starts Sept 1.

Let's not forget that is was the Democrats that repealed the usury laws that prohibited predatory lending in the late 1970s. That made possible sky high interest rates on credit cards, payday loans, subprime mortgages and so on. When it comes to creating financial messes the Dems are in the middle of it!

It's not the system that is corrupt but some of the politicians. The system itself is the greatest on earth today. But its run by humans, who are far from perfect.

Unfortunately in the USA, the only way you can register your displeasure with the present corrupt political system is not to vote.

I have never understood that.
If both of them suck, it only makes sense to make the best out of the situation and try to vote for the person that could make more of a positive influence. You'll never get a perfect candidate so why not vote for whichever candidate you think is closer to it, rather than sitting back and watching your country go to shit because you are dissatisfied.

Buttttttt I really do think this election was rigged for Obama, I'm still scratching my head on why Mitt Romney would drop out...seemed to me like he would've won rather easily.
Works for me though, since I like Obama :)
