as to the question of why having floppies around... great for booting computers into linux for FTP based installation is one reason why I still have mine. Also work with some laptops in the family (still!) that do not necessairly have a CD-ROM or network function. My floppies are not stored on my desk, however. There is a large bookshelf for that.
