I am a Licensed Professional Engineer. I started out with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maine in Orono, ME. I first learned computers and programing in a FORTRAN class where I had to write my programs using punch cards. A small program would fill a shoe box, and you better not drop it if you didn't number your cards.

I practice as a Structural Engineer, which is a discipline of Civil Engineering, and I get to put P.E. (Professional Engineer) at the end of my name when I sign official documents.

My first few engineering jobs required an extensive knowledge of MS DOS commands and writing batch files that had to be typed in. There was no such thing as Windows at that time. Now, I am working on a Windows 64 bit machine with 4GB of RAM and a 400 GB HD. How things have changed.

Anyway, thank you all for the welcoming committee.
