While the Sony products in audio and video are very good they have a general restriction and disallow the use of other-than-sony products as accessories to get enhanced functionality. This undervalues the brand in terms of others. Are there hardwares available which can bridge the gap without compromising on the warranties or patents? The products can become more useful. Example: A Sony LED TV has to use a Sony dongle for internet connectivity through its ports; why not any dongle?

Unless someone reverse engineers the proprietary protocol I doubt third party manufacturers will be able to.
There is no real standard for how accessories communicate with their host hardware.
Also, if they're using a direct electrical link rather than a software interface (with standard hardware such as a USB type device) then you could potentially cause serious damage to the components involved.
