How many reps does it take to get a block?

AFAICT 100 rep points per block. That's just based on looking at my own though, so the data set is quite limited.

Yep. The rep titles are also interesting (when you hover your cursor over someone's rep):
>50 = "Distinguished road"
>100 = "Will become famous soon enough"
>150 = "Has a spectacular aura about"
>250 = "Jewel in the rough"
>350 = "Just really nice"
>450 = "Glorious beacon of light"
>550 = "Name known to all"

All I need is 15 more points from some kind-hearted soul and I'll get a new title :mrgreen:

I think we jus tnotice them before as now they are animated like whereas before they just faded in and out slowly

Actually not. It was recently discussed in another thread, but you get reputation when other members give it to you. How much you get is determined by a variety of factors.
