That signature sure changed fast Joe.

jbennet...terminology is silly?!? Well let's see, I found this thing and did something with it and changed the way or something, that works for me.

hmm... what about ungrateful jerks? i mean... aren't they annoying?

recently there was a thread @ the c++ forum where sturm, narue and i were verbally attacked by a <insert your favorite noun here> that instead of thanking us for helping him, he turned all the way against us, just for getting a little "off topic"...

i mean... who doesn't post a nothing-to-do commentary once in a while?

those really annoy me...

This actually is one of the things that annoys the blazes out of me, this site is the worst for people not sticking to topics.

Then again...Narue does have that effect of people.;)

>> Then again...Narue does have that effect of people.

ohh yeah... and i'd risk to say it's reciprocal...

>this site is the worst for people not sticking to topics.
Well, I guess it's what the topic is that people start talking about. Here it seems to be politics and school, two subjects that get old very quickly. When other forums get off-topic, it's often funny and humorous.

>That signature sure changed fast Joe.
I'm experimenting with different signatures. I'm not sure which one is the best so far.

actually, a thread is not fun if you don't get off-topic... if not it turns too punctual and strict and serious...

Experimenting with different signatures is cool, I was just wondering if you had a dissociative identity disorder. lol

>this site is the worst for people not sticking to topics.
Not true. It's a tradition at another board i'm on. Well, technically not, but me and a friend made it one. :D

I always stay on topic in tech thread, but this is the Geeks lounge. The purpouse is to go with the flow.

but even in tech forums is common to get off topic... at least i do it all the time...

yeah............300 was stupid.:0

OH bs.. 300 was the greatest movie ever filmed!

OH bs.. 300 was the greatest movie ever filmed!

agree

Oh yeah..well it wasn't as good as borat. It definitely wasn't as good as smokin' aces. There was just way too much hype about it, and it annoyed me how my buddy would't be quiet about it.He was doing scenes out of it and every thing.Kratos could so kick Leonidas's butt.

i hated smokin aces

I have no idea what ya'll talking about

smokin aces is a crappy film

lol.. borat wasn't that great either.. I mean sure, it was funny.. but it wasn't as good as say old school or van wilder.

i know van wilder rocked!

that bit with the dog and the cakes was so funny

hahaha... ya, I was lmfao

One of my biggest annoyances is people that hijack other's thread with totally inane garbage. Wait...that just happened here! OMG!!!!

I would like to make a point before I leave, all of the other sites that I participate in are geared toward a mature membership, and hijacking a thread occurs occasionally, but it is the exception to the rule where as it is the expected norm here. I guess it's an adult thing. goodbye

Well thats rather rude.. What other sites are you referring to?

Goodbye, dcc. Nice seeing you around.

>Well thats rather rude
Have you ever considered that you're being rude by hijacking other people's threads?

>What other sites are you referring to?
You haven't been to very many technical forums, have you? Actually, most forums discourage off-topic posts; some moderators will even delete/edit out pointless material of posts in an effort to keep the thread focused.

Hey, this thread was hijacked long before I posted off topic..

I have been to other forums, but most are laid back, and don't really mind much as long as the thread doesn't get too far off topic.

This is where it went astray.. on page 4

Well, then don't worry about it. But it's not just this thread, it's other threads as well.

The first few posts that you quoted weren't truly off-topic in the sense that it was a discussion about an annoyance. A thread isn't going to always reply to the original poster. But a comment that comes out of nowhere, like "yeah............300 was stupid.:0" is completely off-topic. You're not even discussing something that annoys you anymore. It's suddenly turned into a movie discussion.

> all of the other sites that I participate in are geared toward a mature membership
I would give you a nice example. If you must be knowing, newsgroups are the sites which are mentioned now and then when it comes to 'mature people', but even there, the discussion tends to go offtopic, not to mention newbies bumping threads. Considering that the spam or pointless posts aren't deleted, they still are doing a good job, don't you think so?

> I guess it's an adult thing. goodbye
You are implying things, but its OK. In case you are forgetting, this is the Geek's "lounge". Things are bound to go offtopic and casual.

If you still think a post is so disgusting it can't be ignored, there is always a 'report bad post' link.

oh, this Brontok Virus in the computers at my college annoys me a lot.
even if by mistake you click on a link which opens having words like "exe" or "registry" or "regedit".... in the address bar or the window title,..
the comp restarts... :(
