RUNDLL Error

Download HijackThis Executable from here. Save it to your desktop.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and then go to the format Tab and make sure that wordwrap is unchecked. Copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.

I did run McAfee again and it found a load of Trojans, some of them very similar to the ones that keep popping up. I'm not entirely sure, but one of them might even been the troublesome one, I probably won't know until I start my computer again.

...using "Start | Search...".

Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in Safe Mode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.

Select the first option to run Windows in Safe Mode hit enter.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Anti-Malware_d5756.html) to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure to checkmark the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Download the update from here if you have problems.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
* Post the log back here.

hi there,

I'm in the middle of trying to sort this problem out. I did a search and the only exe file I could find was ALCMTR.EXE-01A7139B.pf. Is this the one that I need to delete?

Also, I think I may have made a bit of a boob. I have started to scan with malwarebyte but I haven't deleted ALCMTR.EXE-01A7139B.pf yet because I'm not sure if this is the correct file to remove. Anyway, the scan is taking forever.

Not sure about the hidden files, however the boxes are no longer coming up when I start the computer up. I'm not a get too excited until I've done it a few times, but fingers crossed things are okay

I'm still a bit unsure about this file that I had to delete but didn't. the program I downloaded seem to have done the job, I think I'll make a point of running a couple of times a week.

cannot find this exe in the system32. When you say hidden files, you mean "right click" and then if think" if so, hidden is unchecked
