Confession time: I'm a born again smartwatch fan. I used to not see the point, and then somehow managed to buy a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier and everything changed. That this thing looked like a watch, had an innovative rotating bezel as an input control mechanism and worked so smoothly with my newly purchased Samsung Galaxy S8+ were the main reasons for that. Having been a very happy smartwatch bunny for the past 18 months or so, I was both interested and annoyed when the next-gen of the Samsung Gear watch family hit the market. I know, I know, there's …

I am something of a self-confessed Anker hardware fan. I've been using their cables, power supplies and portable chargers for years now. However, I never really thought of Anker in the audio space, until now. Soundcore is an Anker brand with just audio products out there, as the name suggests. So, I needed some new earphones for my daily multi-mile walks and thought I'd give Soundcore a go. Especially when I saw these 'Liberty Lite' wireless earbuds were so much cheaper than the big brand versions from the likes of Apple, Bose and Samsung. Not that I have an iPhone, …

Hello I've been facing this issue since today, whereby my TwinMOS Micro SD HC Card is not being detected by my Samsung phone, and when placed in the adapter and inserted on PC, again the latter is not detecting it at all, although in the Device Manager I can see my adapter being recognised. I've tried Google, but the supposed methods shown, like using EaseUS Recovery software and others are not working in my case as am not able to see the card as a USB drive. Any other methods to deal with this would be most welcome, as I …

Anyone who knows me will happily inform you that I am, as my username implies, rather tech obsessed. I'm not a happy geek when it comes to smartphone cases though, and it's been a long time since I've been able to say I've got the perfect case for my current device. Way back, when I carried an iPhone 5, I swore by my Otter Box for protection. It was bulky, but you could probably drive a tank over it with confidence. The thing is, the iPhone was tiny by comparison to the Samsung Galaxy S8+ that I am using these …

OK, so the Jelly Pro is being touted as the world's smallest 4G smartphone; but is it any good? Every time I pull the Jelly Pro out of the change pocket of my jeans, yes it really is that small, I cannot help but think of Derek Zoolander and his ridiculously small cellphone. That was a comedy spoof, of course, but how serious is the Jelly Pro? ![JellyPro01.jpg](/attachments/large/0/1bff7aed504a12d24089fabc6f4156a4.jpg "align-center") Let's get the size thing out of the way first, because that really is the main selling point here. It's small, very small indeed: 92.4mm x 43mm x 13mm (that's just …

Got Android? Then you had better be on top of your security smarts. With Android cornering more than 80 per cent of the mobile operating system market, it's no surprise that Android devices are the number one target for the mobile malware merchants. Kaspersky Lab reckoned that Android malware attacks increased threefold between 2105 and 2016, and it's a trend it expects will continue. Not that malware is your only worry, everyone from pickpockets to coffee shop hackers, jealous spouses to seasoned cybercriminals, all want to get hold of your smartphone and the data it contains. So how do you …

Generally speaking, when it comes to being as secure as possible (and, just as importantly, staying as secure as possible) newer is better. This is certainly the case if we are talking mobile operating systems such as Android and iOS. As of the start of March 2017, according to [Apple's own metrics]([https://developer.apple.com/support/app-store/) some 79% of Apple mobile devices are using the latest iOS 10. Pretty good rates of adoption considering this version of the OS is only six months old. Now compare that to [Google's official figures](https://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html) which reveal that as of March 2017 just 0.3% of Android devices are …

For the longest time, every pun intended, I was a smartwatch hater. How dumb is that, a stupid-expensive smartwatch that really does nothing much at all. I mean, what's the point of wearing a watch that tells you when there's an email on the phone that's in your pocket? Or, indeed, of a watch at all when that phone in your pocket also tells you the time? The fact that smartwatches looked so bad, unless you like the kind of design on your wrist that shouts 'came free with a tankful of gasoline' that is. Even those usually uber-cool designers …

Hi everyone, How are you? Starting some thread after long time :) Actually, I have a group of 25 people. I have 20-25 mobile devices in my group. So, I have assigned 1-2 device on each person's name(as an owner). But, people in the group ask each other for the device for some help and promise to return it too. They may need specific device for some work which is a genuine thing. But, they forget to return it & person who gave has to ask on emails or each person where his/her device is. Problem: Asking on emails is …

The Google Experience Launcher, as it was, first arrived exclusively for the Nexus 5 towards the end of last year. That changed recently when the renamed Google Now Launcher (GNL) appeared in the Play Store as a standalone app for Nexus devices and those handsets running Google Play Edition (GPE), or to put it another way this is for Stock Android only. ![706bab7221b9e4deadf1145a43fec609](/attachments/large/0/706bab7221b9e4deadf1145a43fec609.jpg "706bab7221b9e4deadf1145a43fec609") Along with some minor visual tweaking to the home screen and dock, you get to swipe left to open Google Now instead of another home screen and on the main home screen (assuming the device is …

I have been a happy user of TomTom satnav products since they first hit the market some ten years ago now. For the most part, that has meant dedicated hardware for in-car use. However, when I last [reviewed the TomTom app for the iPhone here at DaniWeb back in 2010](http://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/tablets-and-mobile-devices/reviews/333687/edit-your-own-satnav-maps-with-tomtom-for-iphone) it got a perfect 10/10 rating, the upgraded software truly being that good. In that original review I briefly mentioned that TomTom has a car-kit available for the iPhone which would charge the battery on the move and provide a GPS boost for those poor-signal areas. It also acted as …

If the schools that my kids attend are anything to go by, it seems that high on Santa's list this Xmas just gone was an iTouch, iPhone or iPad depending how well off the parents were. That's understandable, they are just as attractive as gadgets for kids as they are to adults. But along with the never ending supply of free games, educational apps and the like comes the small problem of unfettered access to the Internet and all that brings with it. While adults may well have the family PC protected by parental control software to filter unsuitable content …

So I know you can pay your provider to get the unlock code, or pay third parties too. How do the third parties get the code from the IMEI? If I have lots of phones could I unlock them al in one pop? Like if third parties can do it, then it must not be impossible.

Hi everyone, A friend of mine lost a laptop the other day and unfortunately, there was no way to locate it . It got me thinking about solutions for locating stolen laptops or for that matter, most electronic hardware. Most of the solutions that I've come across e.g Adeona at http://www.linux.com/archive/articles/148197 do not impress me much because all it would take is a software(O.S) re-formatting and the tracking application is gone. The privacy part of Adeona is impressive though. What I would like to know is, does anyone know of a hardware solution that could be used, such that even …
