Hi all,

My computer specs are:

Operating System: Windows XP Media Center Edition
Processor type: Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz (Intel EM64T capable)
System Bus Speed: 800 MHz
L2 Cache RAM: 1024 Kb

Since last couple of months my CPU has been making loud noises specially if I try to open several tasks at the same time (e.g. 5-6 IE windows at the same time etc). If no tasks are running, then it behaves pretty normal

I checked my BIOS recenlty and at that time the Processor fan was tooo fast and loud. The specs I got from my bios at that time are:

Processor Fan: 4320
Chasis Fan: 3120
Processor Temperature: 69 C
Chasis Temperature: 33 C
Motherboard Temperature: 33 C

I don't know what the problem is and how I can get to a solution of this. I hope someone may help me out.

Thanks

sounds like the fan is blocked with dusts or the bearings are worn out

the temps are okay but a bit the cpu temp is a bit high

Invest in a can of compressed air and give the interior a good cleaning.

jbennet is likely correct about CPU cooler (HSF). Clean heat sink fins well. Remove HSF and clean if necessary.

i already cleaned all the dust and the heat sink, but it didn't make any big difference. One more thing other than the processor fan i noticed is that the fan which is under the power supply (maybe chasis fan i guess), makes strange noises at times

change the fan, most likely bearing going bad.

yeah, replace it

NEVER open a power supply by the way
